 "Painting for me is all about capturing the essence of the subject" To achieve a high quality realistic portrait I use the Flemish technique, building up several layers of transparent paint culminating in a smooth finish. This technique was used by many of the great masters (for example: Leonardo Da Vinci, Johannes Van Eyck) and was taught by most art institutions until the development of the photograph took the need for realism away. |
