In 1992 Tony Cowlishaw was commissioned by the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford to paint a portrait of the retiring Nuffield Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Oxford. Following presentation, the portrait was exhibited at a reception at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
All fifteen portraits are in the process of being catalogued and published for the Public Catalogue Foundation.
Tony is an established professional artist, also working in watercolour medium. As well as exhibiting his work at exhibitions throughout the country, he also demonstrates and gives workshops at Art Societies and Art Clubs throughout the country and has been a judge for several art exhibitions. He has produced three instructional films on watercolour painting and annually presents a series of watercolour painting lectures/demonstrations at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. He has also demonstrated at Art Materials Live at the NEC in November 2005 and has written several articles for national painting magazines, which include Leisure Painter.
